Record Plant
Record Plant's previous website didn't reflect the prestige of such an iconic recording studio. While it was responsive, the design was outdated, and the only way to book studio sessions was via email—a process that fell short of the seamless experience you'd expect from a studio with such a rich history.
Challenge
The legendary recording studio faced digital challenges:
- Outdated design that didn't match their prestigious reputation
- Email-only booking process (no online system)
- Poor mobile performance and usability
- Underutilized opportunity to showcase their incredible history
- Website didn't reflect the caliber of artists who record there
Goals
The goal was to create a modern, visually stunning design that not only honored Record Plant's legacy but also elevated the user experience. This included:
- Improving mobile page load speed
- Enhancing mobile usability
- Streamlining the booking process to make it as exceptional as the studio itself
Process
As the designer and developer, I reimagined the entire website. I incorporated a more comprehensive history section to showcase the studio's incredible legacy, and I revamped the booking process to make it intuitive and accessible. Built with Next.js and hosted on Vercel for blazing-fast performance, the redesigned site was a significant improvement over its predecessor.
Through this process, I:
- Redesigned the user experience to align with the prestige of Record Plant's rich history, focusing on intuitive navigation and accessibility.
- Developed a modern, fast-performing website using Next.js and Vercel for static hosting, ensuring improved mobile usability and page load speeds.
- Revamped the booking process by transitioning from email-only booking to a streamlined, user-friendly online system tailored to the needs of artists.
- Expanded the studio's history section, showcasing its legendary past and solidifying its reputation as a world-class recording space.
- Balanced innovation with legacy, creating a design that felt both modern and respectful of the studio's iconic status.
Project Status
Although the project was put on hold before it could go live, the new design stands as a testament to what a modern, high-quality experience for Record Plant could look like—one worthy of its storied reputation.
