Art Healing Hearts

Art Healing Hearts needed a new website to share their mission of helping people heal through artistic expression. With a television feature in Las Vegas fast approaching, the site had to inspire visitors, streamline donations, and clearly communicate their impact.

The project took on additional urgency when the previous version of the website was attacked than a week before the TV spot, requiring quick action to design and launch a high-quality, functional site.

To reflect their mission and capture the warmth and vitality of their brand, I used white as the primary color, accented with a vibrant purple-pink-orange gradient. This design choice brought a sense of hope, warmth, and care while avoiding harsh black tones, maintaining a light and uplifting aesthetic.

A grid layout showcased the areas they serve—such as shelters, convalescent homes, and youth centers—while emphasizing their commitment to bringing healing where it’s needed most.

Given the tight timeline, we adopted a single-page design optimized for speed and clarity, focusing on guiding visitors to donate. Built on Next.js and hosted on Vercel, the site offered faster load times and seamless performance.

Tracking scroll depth revealed that 30% of visitors reached the donation form, and 5% completed a donation—a testament to the site’s effective user flow.

Capturing the personality and joy that founder Lu Monteleone brings to the organization was central to the project. Using photos of people actively creating and healing through art gave the site authenticity and emotional resonance. Additionally, a bold, colorful donation form stood out from the rest of the site, directing visitors to take action quickly and securely via Stripe.

This project was deeply meaningful to me, not only because Lu is an old friend, but also because art and helping others have always been important parts of my life. It was incredibly rewarding to contribute to a cause that brings healing and hope to so many.

Through this process, I:

  • Designed an uplifting, vibrant website that reflected Art Healing Hearts’ mission, using a light color palette with warm, hopeful accents to create an inviting experience.

  • Rebuilt the site in under a week to prepare for the television spot, balancing speed with quality to ensure the site was ready to accept donations on time.

  • Streamlined the donation process by integrating Stripe for ease of use and payment security, and designed a bold, action-oriented donation form to maximize conversions.

  • Optimized for performance and tracking, leveraging Next.js and Vercel for fast load times, while implementing scroll-depth analytics to measure user engagement and donation conversions.

  • Emphasized storytelling through design, using real photos of participants creating art to showcase the emotional impact of the organization’s work and maintain founder Lu Monteleone’s joyful personality at the heart of the site.

  • Focused on clarity and urgency, adopting a single-page design for the TV spot that funneled users directly to donate, resulting in 10 donations on the first day of the feature.
